Meeting Santa at Princes Quay, Hull

So on our second visit to Santa already this year, and this time it was Princes Quay in Hull. We’ve seen Santa at Princes Quay before, and I have to say that the offering gets better year on year. 

What’s obvious at first is the sheer effort that’s gone into the grotto itself. It’s a huge double-storey log cabin, and has a stage level which I understand will be well used over the coming weeks.

The outside of the grotto is very festive which gets you in the Christmas spirit while you are waiting.

Once at the front of the queue, we chatted for a while to an elf, who was very convincing. The girls liked him very much.

Through the doors, and you’re inside Santa’s beautiful log cabin. There are sacks of presents, gorgeous festive decorations, and a roaring fireplace (not a real one!). Elves take you to tables to do festive activities such as Christmas colouring and helping you to write a letter to take into Santa with you.

We even got a story from Mrs Claus next to the fireplace, and helped her read some of Santa’s letters that children have sent to him

Soon it was our turn to see Santa, and a very friendly elf let us in. Santa was very good. The girls are convinced that this one is indeed THE Santa. He asked them their names, and what they wanted for Christmas. One twin wants a skateboard please, and the other a tablet because her last one broke*

* she dropped it

We spent about five minutes chatting to Santa, he gave them a gift each, and they waved goodbye happily.

Santa at Princes Quay costs £5 per child, which includes activities inside the grotto, and a gift from Santa. My children were very happy with their activity pack.

Visit time is around 20 minutes, depending on how long your child wants to do the activities for.
