Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
We visited Norfolk in August 2013 and spent a day in Great Yarmouth.
We visited the beach. It was huge but very deceptive. The first 80% or so (the part you could see from the promenade) was lovely and golden and sandy. The remaining strip next to the sea (which you couldn’t see from the prom) was all pebble. It was very difficult and painful for the children to paddle in the sea barefoot. Clean but painful.
Porthkerry Country Park, Barry, Glamorgan
I have rediscovered Porthkerry Country Park, and it’s far better than any of my memories. I remember school trips there, I remember sunny days there with friends and family. And now, as a parent I realise why it’s such a fantastic place. Continue reading
Hornsea, East Yorkshire
Hornsea is a seaside town in East Yorkshire, a few miles down the coast from Bridlington.
It is a traditional seaside town and, to be honest, there’s not much there. There are some caravan parks, and the usual amusement arcades, fish and chip shops, and B&Bs. For us as a young family, it is perfect.
