A review of the Futliit LED backpack. The photo shows the rucksack on a staircase.

Product Review: Futliit LED backpack

This winter, we’ve been road testing a great product – a Futliit LED backpack. It’s a regular, good quality backpack suitable for adults or children with a very welcome feature – inbuilt LED lights.

On the face of it, the Futliit LED backpack looks like a regular one. At the touch of a small button or two, it lights up and enables the wearer to be seen in the dark. This is a great backpack for early morning or evening commutes, night-walking, or the walk to and from school.

The walk to school for my children is mostly alongside a reasonably busy road. There are street lights for most of it, but not all. Anything that allows cars and other road users to see my children sooner rather than later can’t be a bad thing.

The light has 3 settings – 2 flashing settings and 1 steady on. There are also small reflective panels for added visibility.

The backpack itself is good quality, has plenty of pockets, and makes a decent bag for school. It’s in black/charcoal/grey only at the moment, but as my kids seem to be in the habit of wearing black for everything, there have been no objections to this colour option. The Futliit logo is in orange as you can see in the above photo.

Some of the Futliit LED backpack’s features include……

• Futliit’s LED lighting system with 2 strips of bright white LED lights
• easy reach switches to control each LED strip individually
• 2 flashing and a steady-on mode
• reflective details for added visibility
• comfortable padded back
• adjustable, reinforced padded straps
• internal padded laptop / device sleeve
• zipped front pocket with key holder and 2 organiser pockets
• 2 deep external water bottle pockets
• easy grab carry handle

The lights are contained in the trim of the backpack and the batteries and gubbins are sealed away inside the bag somewhere. To activate the lights you squeeze the buttons in the triangles at the bottom of the straps.

As a bag for travel, it would fall easily within the measurements to be classed as carry on luggage on most airlines. It might even be classed as an ‘under seat’ bag on some flights.
