Brimham Rocks is a unique place in North Yorkshire. It is located on a high area of moorland north of Harrogate. It is owned by the National Trust and is a free attraction (you pay £5 per car for all day parking).
It is absolutely beautiful. The views are stunning. On a clear day you can see York Minster.
You access it from either the north (from the B6265) or from the south (B6165). There is a visitor centre/gift shop, toilets, picnic tables, and a refreshment kiosk on the northern side.
You can walk through the rocks with a pram or wheelchair. There is an accessible path but it is still treacherous in places. We abandoned the pram at the visitor centre to get a better look in the less accessible places.
It is a great place to take part in the 50 things to do before you’re 113/4 campaign. There are boards dotted around suitable places to do activities, like make a woodland picture, or make a mud pie.
The rock formations are simply stunning and great for climbing on. But be careful – there’s no baby proofing here! Can’t beat a bit of risky activity during the school holidays.
There’s not much more I can say about Brimham Rocks really apart from it is gorgeous, and a great place for an explore in the dirt and little hidey holes. Brilliant for kids of all ages who can climb. Especially the adult ones!
Here’s a selection of our photos from our visit.

I used to love going to Brimham Rocks when I was small – it’s absolutely brilliant from a small person’s point of view as the rocks look MAHOOSIVE! 🙂
Plenty of hidey holes. Not been since I was about 8, should really go again with my two!
ok ok you have finally inspired me – I’m going to find out what National Trust is near me – it looks fantastic. Thank you.
Great photos, it looks like a wonderful place for a family day out.
I’ve never heard of it but it looks like a great day out!
This reminds me of Roughtor here in Cornwall, I could well imagine the views are spectacular. What a fab place to take the children to explore and have adventures. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
