We were sent a Lava Brightsounds 2 to play with while on our camping trip to Andrewshayes Holiday Park – it’s a 3-in-1 piece of travel kit, and we found it very useful. Thanks to Lava Accessories for sending it to us. It is said to be “one of the best gadgets you’ll take camping this year” and it was certainly true for us!
The Lava Brightsounds 2 is
- a Bluetooth/cabled speaker
- a camping light
- a USB power pack/booster.
It is available in a range of colours. Naturally, we chose pink.
The kit can be charged through a USB charger at home, either via a computer or a USB mains socket.
The rechargeable battery is Lithium-Ion and, on a full charge, can output power for up to 36 hours. That’s 36 hours of music, light, or phone charging, or a mix of all three! We found it useful in that we only had to take the one device with us rather than a separate speaker, a separate camping light, and a booster pack.
We took it to Lyme Regis with us for the day and listened to some music on the beach, and also give the phone a top up en-route. I sat here whilst the girls played some crazy golf so took the opportunity to top up while I could.
Playing music on the Brightsounds 2
The kit plays music from your phone or other device via Bluetooth. We did try this out and it did indeed work very well, but because my phone is rubbish and can’t store much music, our preferred method is to use the aux lead supplied and plug in our MP3 players and iPods instead.
You control the Brightsounds 2 using the buttons on top. These control volume, the light on/off, and you can pause the music to take a handsfree call via Bluetooth. Here’s a quick demo in video format.
Overall, we love our new toy and it’s now a permanent item in our camping essentials.
