1) You can climb on stuff
For little lovers of all things transport, Hull’s Streetlife Museum is fabulous. There are bicycles you can look at and wonder how on earth people thought these things were a good idea, an old fire engine you can poke a bit, and tram carriages you can sit inside and pretend to be going to the seaside.
There is a gallery with old arcade machines (the 8-year-old was amazed at the Space Invaders one), and you can scare your toddlers with The Laughing Policeman.
Round the back, there is a carriage exhibition with old cars and carriages, including a Daimler.
Upstairs there is a bicycle gallery, a carriage simulator (you sit inside and it rocks about a bit), and a country house gallery.
Lots of toilets available for the size of the museum.
There is a lift to go upstairs but it wasn’t working on our visit. If you need to take a pram, be prepared to abandon it downstairs.
No cafe available but there are gardens outside with picnic tables.
Very limited parking available. Use the usual Hull city centre car parks and on-street metered bays.
