We stayed at the Ramada Encore for one night in December 2017 in order to explore what Leicester has to offer shoppers and leisure visitors at Christmas.
The Ramada Encore is sold as a stylish hotel within easy reach of the train station and Leicester city centre, and on that it certainly delivers. We could not fault the location of Charles Street, being a 3-minute walk from where we saw Scrooge the Musical at Curve. The streets were a little noisy late Saturday evening, but not excessively so. We did hear a few people come in after us, but nothing that stopped us sleeping. Sunday morning was very peaceful and we didn’t wake until late.
Our room at Ramada Encore Leicester
Our room was on the 7th floor. We had good views over Leicester city centre. We could see both Curve and the corner of Haymarket centre from our window. It really is a good central location.
The room was roomy, stylish, and functional. There was free WiFi which was unlimited and very reliable. The TV actually tuned in properly, and there was a free hairdryer. The bed was very comfy and clean. There were complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, and towels and soap/shampoo were provided too.
The bathroom was simple and again, spotless. The shower was nice and hot and came out with a nice amount of force.
Breakfast at Ramada Encore Leicester
The breakfast was really very good. The teen wished she had gotten herself out of bed earlier as she “only” managed to squeeze in two breakfast helpings and a yoghurt, AND a bowl of fruit before breakfast closed at 11am. Superb quality and plenty of choice available; there was a range of cooked items including hash browns, and also yoghurts, fresh fruit, and cereal.
We also very much appreciated the pictures in the breakfast room of local celebrities, including Roy from Coronation Street, and Gok Wan.
Overall, the Ramada Encore is a good hotel in a good central Leicester location. We had a good night’s sleep and loved how close it was to Curve, and to the main shopping areas, and back to the train station. It’s a great choice if you’re exploring Leicester by foot.
Thanks to the Ramada Encore team for a lovely stay, and to Visit Leicester for asking us to come to Leicester and see what it has to offer at Christmas.
