Things to do in London with kids
London is a fantastic place to take children. It’s bustling and there is loads to do, both for free and paid. What are your favourite things to do in London with kids?
Here’s our pick of some of the best things to see and do in the UK’s capital……
Continue readingThe National Gallery, London – is it child friendly?
I love The National Gallery in London but as much as I love it, it’s not somewhere I would rush to take the children. Well, certainly not all of it.
You see, I think children should be exposed to art from a young age, but an art gallery is not always the best environment. Children tend to be…..energetic, shall we say? And art can’t always be appreciated by others if they have short people running around them and shouting “boobies!” whenever they see a life drawing.
Continue readingOur trip up the Thames with City Cruises, London
February saw the twins’ seventh birthday. Instead of a party, we decided to spend the money doing something they really wanted to do instead. They decided on a trip to London. They wanted to see where the Queen lived, and where Paddington was filmed. While this wouldn’t be my first trip to London (understatement!) it would be theirs, and I thought the best thing would be to show them as many as the famous sights as possible. City Cruises invited us to try out their River Thames cruise, and it was perfect for seeing some of the most popular sights in London. Have you ever done a river cruise?

We loved our trip to YHA Grinton Lodge so much that we decided we’d seek out another YHA on our recent trip to London. We plumped for YHA London St Paul’s, which handily enough, is a short walk from St Paul’s Cathedral. We had another good stay and we would highly recommend YHA to families like ours.
Picturing Hetty Feather at The Foundling Museum, London
This week, The Foundling Museum in London invited us to go and see the exhibition Picturing Hetty Feather and meet author Jacqueline Wilson. As my two older children have read pretty much every Jacqueline Wilson book ever written including the entire Hetty Feather series, we couldn’t say no to this one!
The Wardonia, Kings Cross, London
The Wardonia Hotel in Kings Cross in London is a perfectly functional hotel very close to Kings Cross station and St Pancras and ideal for a short stop over. While I wouldn’t call this hotel luxury in any way, it was better than I expected and well worth the money. Continue reading
Origami Poetry Cafe on board The Floating Showroom
On Mother’s Day we sent Anne and her family to check out The Floating Showroom as it hosted an Origami Poetry Cafe.
Here’s what Anne had to say….
“It’s as original as it sounds. Continue reading
A night at The Science Museum with Mark Champkins and BT
As a family travel blogger, we get invited to some fantastic places. On most occasions we are invited to test somewhere as a regular punter. We get to see what everyone else sees, and try out the things that are available to everyday paying guests. We love sharing our thoughts and experiences with you so you can make up your mind if a particular day out is the right one for you and your family. Continue reading
