We were invited to go and try out the new look Pleasurewood Hills and we were very impressed. Pleasurewood Hills has been a popular family attraction in Suffolk for 30 years and has recently had a refurbishment programme to make the park as good as in its hey-day.

Feature: Four Fantastic Adventures For Kids In Oxford
Disclosure – this is a sponsored post
If you’re thinking of a weekend break in Oxford with the family, you’ll want to know some of the local attractions to keep them entertained. The historic buildings and beautiful scenery will only keep their attention for so long before cries of “I’m bored” are echoing down the Thames. Fortunately there’s plenty to do, and here are four fantastic adventures for kids in Oxford.
York Maze, York, North Yorkshire
I have heard good things about York Maze and, despite living less than an hour away, have never been. I always thought it looked a bit expensive, considering it’s only a maze cut from maize, but I was very wrong.
This place is more like a small theme-park with a maize theme! We spent six hours here, and even with the odd small rain shower, there was LOADS to do.
Beaulieu National Motor Museum, Brockenhurst, Hampshire
The Beaulieu Estate, set in the beautiful surroundings of the New Forest, was first opened to the public in 1952. Originally it was the Palace House that welcomed visitors, until a small display of veteran cars outgrew the family home and led to the creation of a separate motor museum. Today at Beaulieu Museum there is lots to see – the Palace House and Gardens, the historic site of Beaulieu Abbey along with a museum, and of course the National Motor Museum which houses several motoring themed exhibitions.
Bondville Miniature Village, Sewerby, East Yorkshire
Bondville Model Village in East Yorkshire is somewhere I remember visiting as a child, though I don’t remember much about it. It is still here going strong. It has been a bit neglected for the last few years but a change in ownership last year and an ongoing programme of refurbishment has perked it up no end.
BeWILDerwood, Hoveton, Norfolk
“Mummy, when are we going to see Swampy?”
A couple of years ago we discovered the world of Boggles and Twiggles. This has been a pretty constant question ever since. And also because of the imagination of Tom Blofeld and the rather stupendous adventure park BeWilderWood based on his wonderful stories.
Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park, Filey, North Yorkshire
Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park is a relatively new attraction, having opened to the public in 2008.
It is not as big as other children’s farms we have visited but we were very impressed with its range of animals, its cleanliness, and its informal atmosphere.
Drusilla’s Park, Alfriston, East Sussex
Drusillas Park is a small zoo in Alfriston, East Sussex, aimed particularly at young children. I have very fond memories of it, as we used to go there a lot when I was younger. Although billed as a zoo, there is a lot more there to see and do, and we had a lovely day when we visited recently with our 4 year old and almost 2 year old.
Burnby Hall Gardens, Pocklington, East Yorkshire
This post has been updated – see Burnby Hall Gardens, East Yorkshire for our visit in 2021
Burnby Hall Gardens and Museum is in Pocklington, East Yorkshire, just off the A1079 south-east of York. It is the grounds of an old stately home, and it is absolutely beautiful. It is hidden behind walls and housing in the centre of Pocklington, and there are few clues as to what lies inside. It is somewhere I have been meaning to visit for years, having driven by it several (hundred) times on my way to York, and I’m sorry we haven’t been before, because we had the most wonderful time.

Today was Open Farm Sunday across the UK. Open Farm Sunday is where working farms open their doors to the public for free, in the name of helping bring consumers closer to producers. This has been an increasingly popular annual event since 2006.
