During October half-term, we spent a few days in Blackpool on the Lancashire coast. It was fresh and fun. We love it! Here’s what we did.
Santa arrives at Princes Quay shopping centre in Hull via a parade which sets off from Hull New Theatre at 11am on Sunday 16th November. He will be joined by the Frozen gang as well as a brass band and lots of people representing organisations across the city. We can not recommend Blackpool Pleasure Beach enough. We visited on Halloween, when it became Vampire Beach for the day and we had an amazing time. We are a family with members aged from 3 to 53 and all had a brilliant day, and we were there from 11am until 9.30pm – over ten hours, which is fantastic value. The Halloween atmosphere was pitch-perfect and there was so much to do.
It seems the whole of the country is going penguin crazy, thanks to a certain Christmas advert from John Lewis. Monty the Penguin has his own Twitter feed and growing fan-base, and rightly so – penguins rock! Continue reading
Illuminasia is an indoor attraction in the Winter Gardens a short distance behind Blackpool Tower. It is an Asian-themed light exhibition which is suitable for all ages. It combines traditional Chinese paper lantern crafts with modern technology. Continue reading
We stayed at the Travelodge Lytham St Annes in the October half-term break 2014.
The Travelodge reception is on the first floor – there are stairs and two lifts – and the accommodation is on floors one, two, and three of the main building. The ground floor is a vet’s surgery and shops such as Costa Coffee and M&S. Continue reading
We were invited back to play Pirate Island Adventure Golf at Junction 32 at Castleford for their Halloween weekend, so we popped in on the way home from a few days in Blackpool. It made a handy half-way stop off, so we grabbed some lunch, hit the shops, and then nervously made our way over to the Halloween-themed Pirate Island. Continue reading
Sandcastle Waterpark is the UK’s biggest indoor waterpark, and I can quite believe it. I would say it’s much bigger than any of the Butlin’s waterparks and Splash Landings at Alton Towers. Sandcastle Waterpark has over 18 slides and attractions, and we spent three hours here in October half-term 2014.
