Today, we headed up to Dalby Forest to take part in a very special, once-in-a-lifetime (possibly) sporting event – The Stick Man Games! Who doesn’t love the story of Stick Man by Julia Donaldson?
Didn’t we have a lovely time? May 2016
I know, right? It’s almost the end of the month and I still haven’t gotten around to this month’s linky, but fear not – here it is – THE linky for family days out in the UK. Where have you been in May?
With both schools being super busy this month, we haven’t had chance to get too far – but we have squeezed in a trip to The Deep. You can read about our trip with Charlie the school bear at The Deep, Hull
We are very much looking forward to this half-term when we will be venturing a little to the north and exploring a couple of places in North Yorkshire.
Out and about on a geocaching adventure
Geocaching is something we’ve been meaning to try for a while. We’re late to the party I know. Once we had a few hours with the younger children busy at Grandma’s house, and some fine weather, we decided that it was a good time to get out there and find out what geocaching was all about.
Visiting The Deep, Hull with Charlie Bear
It’s been a while since we visited The Deep in Hull. While not much really changes year on year – which my children LOVE by the way! – we do like visiting and seeing the wonderful array of sealife on display, including numerous fish and rays, sharks, and more recently, penguins.
I’m going to BlogOn Manchester
Hello! I am going to Blog On Manchester this weekend. I think it will be my fourth one. I think that means I’ve been to all of them.
Well, I couldn’t not really. Many moons ago (OK, about four years ago, maybe three) there was me and Laura in a pub. Somewhere in Manchester city centre. There was wine. That much I remember. She said she could do a blog conference and did I think anyone would come. I said that I would anyway. I said “If you build it, they will come” in some weird voice of authority. So I really had to didn’t I? Continue reading
Didn’t we have a lovely time? April 2016
Sorry. Been busy. But here it is – THE linky for family days out in the UK. Where have you been in April?
Us? We’ve been busy. The Easter holidays saw us take a trip to the Midlands where we investigated Cadbury World and Drayton Manor. I’ve yet to get round to actually writing about them, but I’ll get there! Continue reading
Origami Poetry Cafe on board The Floating Showroom
On Mother’s Day we sent Anne and her family to check out The Floating Showroom as it hosted an Origami Poetry Cafe.
Here’s what Anne had to say….
“It’s as original as it sounds. Continue reading
(Re) Discovering Barcelona with my family
Barcelona in the Catalonia region of Spain is somewhere I’ve visited in the past. Do you remember those heady days without children, when you could go anywhere without worrying about school attendance, or how to keep little ones entertained, or having to pack for more than just yourself? It seems like a lifetime ago for me, but I’d love to revisit some of the places I’ve seen in the past with my children, though I suspect the activities once we were there would be a bit different! I would hope so anyway. Continue reading
Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester
The Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester (also known as the MOSI) is one of the free museums managed by the Science Museum Group. Like other museums in this group (The Science Museum, and the National Railway Museum in York), it is huge and there is a lot to see and do for all ages. Did I say it was FREE? Continue reading
Didn’t we have a lovely time? March 2016
With spring fast approaching, it’s about time we got about and about a bit more. We need your inspiration!
Have you had a day trip somewhere this March which you can share with others? Whether it’s a theme park, the beach, a zoo, or a museum, if it’s in the UK and you can go with children then we want to know about it. Continue reading
