A grand day out: Meeting Sir Ranulph Fiennes

This week we were invited to go and chat to Sir Ranulph Fiennes, so of course, we jumped at the chance.

We met with Sir Ranulph ahead of an event organised by Marie Curie so we could talk to him about his latest project – the Marathon Des Sables – to raise money for the charity, which exists to provide end-of-life care to people suffering from terminal illness. Continue reading

It’s almost half-term here in the UK, and while the weather is still pretty wintry, there are lots of places you can explore with your family.

Indoor attractions are always busy at this time of year. One we can recommend is a visit to the National Railway Museum in York. It is free entry, and they are running a Paddington Bear themed exhibition again. We went in 2012 and it was ace. Please read our review, and check out the NRM website for more info. Santa at Princes Quay Hull

Visiting Santa at Princes Quay, Hull

Santa arrives at Princes Quay shopping centre in Hull via a parade which sets off from Hull New Theatre at 11am on Sunday 16th November. He will be joined by the Frozen gang as well as a brass band and lots of people representing organisations across the city. We sent Claire, her fiance Ben, and their brood of four to put Santa through his paces ahead of his stint.  Continue reading
