Camel Creek Adventure Park Cornwall

Camel Creek Adventure Park, Wadebridge, Cornwall

With new attractions and improved all-weather facilities, Camel Creek Adventure Park is billed as one of Cornwall’s leading family days out. It’s a smaller theme park suitable, I think, for under 12s. While it’s not on the scale of parks such as Alton Towers, or Drayton Manor, there’s lots to do. We were there for a full six hours, and there was plenty to keep my children entertained.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, Lancashire

We can not recommend Blackpool Pleasure Beach enough. We visited on Halloween, when it became Vampire Beach for the day and we had an amazing time. We are a family with members aged from 3 to 53 and all had a brilliant day, and we were there from 11am until 9.30pm – over ten hours, which is fantastic value. The Halloween atmosphere was pitch-perfect and there was so much to do.

Lightwater Valley, Ripon, North Yorkshire

Lightwater Valley near Ripon in North Yorkshire has been operating as a theme park since the 1980s and is somewhere I remember going as a child, though I don’t remember too much about it!

These days it is a huge 175 acre site and incorporates a shopping village and a bird of prey centre. It has over 40 rides and attractions and is home to Europe’s longest roller coaster – The Ultimate. More recently, it has opened a brand new Angry Birds play area.

York Maze, York, North Yorkshire

I have heard good things about York Maze and, despite living less than an hour away, have never been. I always thought it looked a bit expensive, considering it’s only a maze cut from maize, but I was very wrong.

This place is more like a small theme-park with a maize theme! We spent six hours here, and even with the odd small rain shower, there was LOADS to do.

Drusilla’s Park, Alfriston, East Sussex

Drusillas Park is a small zoo in Alfriston, East Sussex, aimed particularly at young children. I have very fond memories of it, as we used to go there a lot when I was younger. Although billed as a zoo, there is a lot more there to see and do, and we had a lovely day when we visited recently with our 4 year old and almost 2 year old.

Peppa Pig World and Paultons Park, Southampton, Hampshire

Paultons Park is a theme park in Hampshire. Part of the park has recently become Peppa Pig World. If you have children who are fans of the round, porky one, then this is the place for them, even if you can’t think of anything worse than spending a large chunk of your day queuing with excited, over-tired 4 year olds.
