The Hull and East Riding Museum in Hull’s museum quarter is worth an hour of your time. You can combine it with a trip to the Streetlife Museum next door, or as a stop off point on the Hull Fish Trail.
Meeting the new penguins at The Deep, Hull
The Deep is somewhere we have visited many, many times. It is the biggest attraction in our region and gets thousands of visitors every month. You can see my review of The Deep here.
With the twins recovering from chicken pox and needing somewhere to burn off some energy on a windy day, we decided to go again and have a look at The Deep’s latest arrivals – four Gentoo penguins. So with our own penguins in tow, off we went.
Disney On Ice Worlds of Fantasy Tour 2014
On Saturday evening, we made the trip over to Leeds to catch the first stop on the latest Disney On Ice production Worlds of Fantasy.
This is a repeat of the popular tour from a couple of years ago and is a great chance to see it again, and to introduce it to younger children. We had a brilliant time.
The Christmas Adventure at Stockeld Park, Wetherby, West Yorkshire
I know it’s only November but time flies and it won’t be long until Christmas. I’ve been a bit slack with Christmas preparations and I really needed something to get us into the spirit of it all. A trip to Stockeld Park near Wetherby and their Christmas Adventure did the trick!
Tropical World, Leeds, West Yorkshire
Tropical World is a very established and popular indoor tropical plants and animal house in Roundhay Park, on the north side of Leeds in West Yorkshire. It is perfect for a more inclement day, and a brilliant Autumn day out.
Aliens Love Underpants Live!
On Sunday morning, we were up and out the door very early because we had a date with some Aliens! Seriously. We were off to see Aliens Love Underpants, based on the book by Clare Freedman and Ben Court at The Assembly Halls in Tunbridge Wells. We’ve had this book a few years and it has become a favourite bedtime book of ours, so the chance to see it transfer to the stage was very exciting indeed. The kids had a good read of the book before going and all the way to the theatre there was constant talk about PANTS! Pants are a hot topic in our house, with a certain little boy’s reluctance to wear them at the moment, or at least reluctance to keep them dry!

Check out our post – Things to do in Hull with the kids
It’s years since I last went to Humber Bridge Country Park. We were up that way one evening last week to meet family and the girls were desperate to get down on the beach and play but it was getting late so I promised we’d come back again very soon.
Little Fun Fest, York Maze, September 2013
Today, we have been at Little Fun Fest at York Maze. We’ve had loads of fun and done some fabulous things. There was so much to do that we didn’t get chance to do everything. There were shows constantly from 11am over two different stages, a fun-fair, various characters wandering about to meet, and most of the usual York Maze attractions. The shows were packed with familiar (and less familiar) faces including Alex, Mister Maker, and Mr Bloom from CBeebies, and children’s entertainers such as That Poetry Bloke, and puppets from Phil Fletcher.

Lightwater Valley, Ripon, North Yorkshire
Lightwater Valley near Ripon in North Yorkshire has been operating as a theme park since the 1980s and is somewhere I remember going as a child, though I don’t remember too much about it!
These days it is a huge 175 acre site and incorporates a shopping village and a bird of prey centre. It has over 40 rides and attractions and is home to Europe’s longest roller coaster – The Ultimate. More recently, it has opened a brand new Angry Birds play area.
