Morwellham Quay Cargo Boat

Morwellham, Tavistock, Devon

It might have been over 20 years since I left, but I’m a Devon girl at heart. So taking my kids home for a week every summer always takes me back to my childhood. Morwellham Quay was a staple day out when I was growing up. If we had visitors we took them there, School trips took us there with our friends. And if there was a weekend where we were at a bit of a loss for something to do, it was the perfect place to while away a day.

Helly Hansen Duffel Bag 30l

Review: Helly Hansen Duffel Bag 30litre from Marine Superstore

CBBC Summer Social 2018, Croxteth Park, Liverpool

On 5th August, we headed over to Croxteth Hall in Liverpool to join in the BBC’s biggest ever children’s event – the CBBC Summer Social 2018. It promised to be three days of CBBC fun with celebrity entertainment and lots to do for children of all ages.

The bill included Union J, The Next Step, Junior Frood, the Merseygirls, Shrek the Musical, and tots’ favourite Mr Tumble. There were also chances to meet your favourite stars at meet and greets, and lots of free and paid attractions such as football training sessions with Liverpool FC and Everton.

The National Gallery, London – is it child friendly?

I love The National Gallery in London but as much as I love it, it’s not somewhere I would rush to take the children. Well, certainly not all of it.

You see, I think children should be exposed to art from a young age, but an art gallery is not always the best environment. Children tend to be…..energetic, shall we say? And art can’t always be appreciated by others if they have short people running around them and shouting “boobies!” whenever they see a life drawing.
