In July, we went to Brussels. We chose Brussels as it’s somewhere the 12 year old hadn’t been before, and it’s a short two hour Eurostar ride from London. Brussels isn’t that big – it’s not quite as big as London or Paris. It has a very cosmopolitan feel without too many of the big city problems. Even though our trip encompassed Belgian National Day, it wasn’t very busy and getting accommodation and around the city was easy. Continue reading

Five family trails to do this summer
It seems at the moment you can’t move for town trails.
We LOVE town trails. We’ve done the Fish Trail in Hull several times, and the guild heritage trail in Beverley.
Do you have a local town trail? Continue reading

Didn’t we have a lovely time? #DWHALT July 2016
Annnnnnnnd……the summer holidays are here!
Well, mostly. I’ve got one off right now, and the others due to finish next Friday. When do your summer holidays begin?
I want to hear all about your July days out and adventures. Thank you to Kiddie Holidays for linking up last month. I hope to see more of you here this month, especially now school is out! Continue reading
Didn’t we have a lovely time? #DWHALT – June 2016
Yay, June isn’t over yet and I’ve remembered to actually get the linky up! Hurrah for me. Have you got any family days out posts to link up this month?
We’ve been super busy with a trip to North Yorkshire where we stayed at a YHA youth hostel, visited the Forbidden Corner, and also had a little tootle around York. We’ve also been up to Dalby Forest to meet Stick Man!
What did you get up to in the half-term break?
A day trip to Doncaster with Smiggle
We were invited to go and visit Smiggle’s newest store – in Doncaster’s Frenchgate Centre. We were given a £25 voucher to treat ourselves to some new stationery kit and so we could go and see their brand new store for ourselves. We love Smiggle, so decided today was a good day to have a girly shopping trip to Doncaster.
Playing Happy Families with Go For It Games
Happy Families have been reinvented by Go For It Games, and we have been sent a pack to try out. Sadly, our surname is not one which is yet catered for, but we love playing card games, and these little packs are just perfect for a travel game for children and families. We were sent the Harris family pack to look at. Continue reading
Joining in the Stick Man Games at Dalby Forest
Today, we headed up to Dalby Forest to take part in a very special, once-in-a-lifetime (possibly) sporting event – The Stick Man Games! Who doesn’t love the story of Stick Man by Julia Donaldson?
Didn’t we have a lovely time? May 2016
I know, right? It’s almost the end of the month and I still haven’t gotten around to this month’s linky, but fear not – here it is – THE linky for family days out in the UK. Where have you been in May?
With both schools being super busy this month, we haven’t had chance to get too far – but we have squeezed in a trip to The Deep. You can read about our trip with Charlie the school bear at The Deep, Hull
We are very much looking forward to this half-term when we will be venturing a little to the north and exploring a couple of places in North Yorkshire.
